Wafflelicious and Sauce Cafe, Auburn

See I literally have no clue about what to eat when it comes to local stuff. Well besides the usual Thai and Vietnamese suspects. Ask me city-bound fine diners to cheap hole-in-the-walls and I'm your man. I've got a gagillion Italian eateries, to Mexican to patisseries in my arsenal but still... absolute zilch for local stuff. So I was recommended Wafflelicious and Sauce cafe, a one-two hit of waffles and Mediterranean pub grub all in the same place run by the same people. Of course we were mainly here for the former but you've got to get your greens and protein in right?

Wafflelicious draws in huge huge crowds. Unfortunately, the kitchen's ill equipped to handle that load and you can even expect hour long waiting times for your dish to come out which is a little disappointing. They'll warn you of course but nevertheless you're already there so what can you really do about it. Nevertheless there's a bright and cheerful night to be found here with numerous tantalizing options.

Barramundi 22
Barramundi... mmmmm. The lack of crispy skin was a little sad but boy are fish and capers best friends. It was just cooked marvellously, beautifully soft and thrown in a simple lemon, butter and chilli vinaigrette which balances it well. Magic.

Agilo Oile 23
The pasta suffers from severe under-seasoning but once jacked up with some table salt, the oily chilli pesto really comes alive along with the tantalizingly sweet prawns which are deeply satisfying. You get a lot going in flavours and one would definitely have it again.

Milkshake 6.5
I'm not sure why I got cookies and cream, I should have seen this one coming. One would expect a smooth mouth feel but this one felt a tad too greasy. And we all know that I love fat. Fat=flavour to me but this one not quite so.

Wafflelicious 14
No one leaves without finishing off with their to-die-for waffles. It's buttery light and crispy exterior is the perfect vehicle for the classic decadent chocolate sauce. Vanilla bean ice cream has us impressed and it's the simple hot cold juxtaposition that has us licking our spoons for more.

Wafflelicious and Sauce Cafe are a wonderful addition to the not so culinary focused Auburn. There's much deliciousness to be had if you can brave the crowds.

Shame about the delays but glad the waffles came up with the goods though!

i'm suprised that such a place is opened in auburn. sounds like a bit of work needs to go into food and drinks but hey, stepping stones right!

No, we aren't the most amazing gastronomes or chefs. Heck, half our team doesn't even know how to cook... well. However, what we really love is eating. And lots of it. We enjoy that occasional freebie, filling up that craving for a midnight snack and finding a 20 in our pockets that we thought we never had, and using that as an excuse to go out eating. As we battle the ongoing war on uni student poverty, we'll bring you the most swoon worthy recounts of our latest foodie adventures.
