Huxtaburger, CBD, Melbourne

Yep I'm in Melbourne now. I'm in Melbourne nearly every year actually. But I never actually go on food adventures besides now. People just really don't trust my sense of direction. Huxtaburger is the casual offspring of the hugely successful Huxtable by Daniel Wilson and has since . It's pretty much a burger and beer affair so don't come in expecting neatly plated up morsels of food.

Boathouse on Blackwattle Bay, Glebe

Uni days and tutoring are long and arduous. Some people cry, others shop, I eat. Boathouse is semi on the way to my uni but some how I managed to get us lost. Only me.

Devon Cafe, Surry Hills

All the hip people of Surry Hills are slowly converging their way into the newly opened Cafe Devon. They've got a lot of things go for them. For one them, they've managed to coax ex-Guillaume chefs from a fine dining atmosphere into a more casual breakfasty one.

Chanoma, CBD

Welcome to the world of contemporary tea houses, where the 'matchas' are as artificially green as can possible be. Chanoma is home to a large assortment of green tea combinations, hot dogs and parfaits (fancy term for sundaes). It's located at Regents place which is where all the busy workers like to hang during the lunch breaks.

Chur Burger, Surry Hills

Kudos to Warren Turnbull (the Mastermind behind Assiette, District Dining, Mexico Food and Liquor and recently Albion St Kitchen) for making the difficult sacrifice and caving into Sydney's mexican and cheap food trends although it's a bit sad to see Assiette and District Dining go. His latest venture sees an area at the back of where Albion St Kitchen is become a burger hot spot, named Chur Burger. The name is possible an homage to his homeland, New Zealand, as well as a reflection of the casual nature of his little eatery.

No, we aren't the most amazing gastronomes or chefs. Heck, half our team doesn't even know how to cook... well. However, what we really love is eating. And lots of it. We enjoy that occasional freebie, filling up that craving for a midnight snack and finding a 20 in our pockets that we thought we never had, and using that as an excuse to go out eating. As we battle the ongoing war on uni student poverty, we'll bring you the most swoon worthy recounts of our latest foodie adventures.
