Flour and Stone, Woolloomooloo

Good bakeries seem to be me and L's thing these days. That and me always waiting for her. I count half an hour late on her part very fortunate. Like the day we met up to go to Flour and Stone. It's a bakery a bit of a walk away from Town Hall station so away from the usual hustle and bustle of the city area. We came so late that all the savoury pies were sold out to our disappointment. No fear. They had plenty of sweets left much to my teeth's dismay.

The bakeries front is clean and well lit with the decor not really going for anything eye poppingly dramatic; rather it's laid back and carefree. The seating is quite comfortable as opposed to many 'hip' cafes around the area and even then, if it's filled, there's always Hyde park which is a few minutes away.

Fine Apple Tart 6
The apple tart had some serious caramelisation going on and was well made with lots of apple slices.

Panna Cotta Lamington 5.5
Their signature (or what appears to be so) happens to be a really giant hunk of lamington: a thick layer of chocolate wraps around the lightest squares of sponge and cream with coconut flakes. It's a beauty.

Raspberry + Vanilla Donuts 4.5
My donut was quite good, filled up with sweet and tart raspberry goodness.

Salted Chocolate Tart 5.5
Oh boy, this has to be the best chocolate tarts I've ever eaten. If it's not then I really don't know what is. There's enough sugar to send you into a foodie daze but it's just so delectably gooey and sweet and rich and dark and delicious and salty and ... frankly everything you want your last dessert ever to be.

Not too far from the station for those willing to walk, it rewards the calories you just burnt off with even more calories. Not that you'd care. The pastries are delicious and well priced and I'll be back a lot early to avoid missing out on the savouries next time and maybe a good coffee next time.

No, we aren't the most amazing gastronomes or chefs. Heck, half our team doesn't even know how to cook... well. However, what we really love is eating. And lots of it. We enjoy that occasional freebie, filling up that craving for a midnight snack and finding a 20 in our pockets that we thought we never had, and using that as an excuse to go out eating. As we battle the ongoing war on uni student poverty, we'll bring you the most swoon worthy recounts of our latest foodie adventures.
