Jafe Jaffles, Camperdown

Jafe Jaffles
What do I have for breakfast? If I'm feeling decadent, I'll whip some eggs royale with the whole shebang... rarely. Most days of the year I'm feeling lazy, so 7 weetbix and a splash of milk is on my agenda. If I'm feeling slightly less lazier then I'll make some jaffles. Nothing quite hits the spot than the jaffle toast all crispied up and buttery, joined together with some good old cheese.

Jafe Jaffles has been on my to eat list for a while but I've never been in the right place at the right time... until now when they rock up at our O week. It takes us back with the little yellow kobi Volkswagen van that brings an inspired touch of nostalgia to our day and the toastie maker pumping out jaffle after jaffle.

David Jafflehoff jaffle 6
We opt for a crispy slice of their bolognaise jaffle filled with incredibly moreish lot of spag bowl and oodles of gooey melted cheese that's bound to bring a smile to anyone's face.

Jafael Nadal jaffle 6
Their Jafael Nadal jaffle is slightly more complex but still entirely tasty. The jaffle is packed with soft pumpkin, the aromatic slightly-sweetness of majoram, salty feta and there's a distinctive nutiness that comes with the quinoa and seeded loaf. It feels like I've got all my necessary daily nutrients in the one delicious bite which is always a plus.

Caramello Banana jaffle 7
Their caramelised banana jaffle is a crowd pleaser. Soft bananas and a little-too-sweet caramel are slapped together with a buttery sweet and spongy brioche and loosened a little with ice cream. Very one dimensional but so comforting.

Jafe Jaffles don't serve out particularly mind blowing food, being jaffles there's only so much you can do with them. The food truck revolution aims to target the rather large niche market that goes after cheap and delicious comfort food that just so conveniently finds itself right outside concerts, festivals, celebrations or when you're craving something, rolling around the pavement after drinking a little too much. Jafe Jaffles nails that on all fronts with their very reasonable prices, an interesting jaffle concept and off the charts decadent level and will have crowds coming back for more. Or moreso they can come to me... geddit... food truck. Yeah...

I haven't had jaffles since I was in primary school! How cool there's a food truck just dedicated to them now :D

No, we aren't the most amazing gastronomes or chefs. Heck, half our team doesn't even know how to cook... well. However, what we really love is eating. And lots of it. We enjoy that occasional freebie, filling up that craving for a midnight snack and finding a 20 in our pockets that we thought we never had, and using that as an excuse to go out eating. As we battle the ongoing war on uni student poverty, we'll bring you the most swoon worthy recounts of our latest foodie adventures.
